    FDA’s Critical Path Initiative and Its Enlightenmentto Medical Device Market Access System in China

    Objective To study FDA’s critical path initiative and summarize the methods and approaches that FDA has adopted to accelerate new
    medical device products into the market, thus to provide references for constructing a modernized medical device market access path
    in China. Methods Literature review was adopted to conduct a study of FDA’s critical path initiative. Results and Conclusion The
    methods FDA has mainly adopted in the process of implementing the critical path initiative include the following: the critical path
    initiative should be applied to identify the critical activities in medical device market access regulations; each critical activity should
    be analyzed and optimized; new and more reliable safety evaluation guidelines, tools and relevant standards should be developed so
    as to instruct the industry to pass through the critical path with higher probability and efficiency.

    Objective To explore the digital drug management model in hospital pharmacies and to ensure the drug use safety. Methods
    Digital drug management was studied by combining with the practices of drug management in one hospital pharmacy. Results and
    Conclusion The digital drug management of hospital pharmacies can optimize operation flow, improve the quality and efficiency of
    management, decrease dispensing errors, reduce the loss rates and improve the patients’ satisfaction.

    Objective To introduce the incentive measures for paediatric drug research and development in European Union and to address
    the problem of lacking appropriate medicines for children. Methods Literature review was conducted through the PubMed, Web
    of Science and other database search by using the following key words, such as paediatric/pediatric drug development, incentives
    for paediatric/pediatric development and paediatric/pediatric regulation. Results and Conclusion The 2007 European Union (EU)
    Paediatric Regulation changed the status of lack of pediatric medicines in the EU by stimulating drug research and development
    through a series of incentive measures. The positive impact of the Pediatric Regulation on pediatric medicine development reflects an
    increase in the number of paediatric studies, drugs and information.

    Objective To provide references for management and supervision of pharmaceutical retail market. Methods Current status of
    pharmaceutical retail market was analyzed and suggestions were raised to promote a healthy development of pharmaceutical retail
    market. Results and Conclusion Suggestions for the development of China’s pharmaceutical retail market are put forward from
    the two aspects of pharmaceutical retail enterprises and government supervision, including promoting rational distribution of chain
    pharmacies, encouraging the development of chain pharmacies, strengthening the licensed pharmacist system, implementing strictly
    the GSP certification system, etc.

    Objective To build up a scientific and rational evaluation system of brand competitiveness for chain pharmacies so that they can
    have an effective way to cultivate and manage their brand competitiveness. Methods Literature review and expert interviews were
    conducted to establish the basic framework for the evaluation system of brand competitiveness. The weight of first-level and secondlevel
    indicators was determined by AHP and expert scoring methods. Results and Conclusion After the consistency test, the weight
    coefficients of each indicator of the evaluation system are acceptable and they can be used as an effective tool to evaluate the brand
    competitiveness of chain pharmacies. Weight coefficients are also used as references for pharmaceutical retail chain enterprises to
    make decision in the brand cultivation.

    Objective To analyze the problems in the development of Chinese medicinal materials and decoction pieces industry and to
    suggest the countermeasures. Methods Main factors that hinder the development of Chinese medicinal materials and decoction
    pieces industry were summarized through literature review and information collection. Results and Conclusion There are some
    problems in the development of Chinese medicinal materials and decoction pieces industry, especially in the areas of plantation and
    slices processing. Faking medicinal materials and decoction pieces are another serious problem. The development trend of Chinese
    medicinal materials and decoction pieces industry is good, though, it still needs the government’s guidance and policy support.

    Fisher Scientific Company’s successful experience of e-commerce marketing models was explored from four aspects, including
    individualized sales service, highly integrated e-commerce platform, the e-commerce logistics system and the security of payment,
    meanwhile weaknesses of the related industries in China were also analyzed. Results and Conclusion Successful marketing
    experience from Fisher Scientific Company can be learned to promote the development of e-commerce in biological reagents
    marketing in China.
