Abstract: Objective To make a descriptive analysis of the adverse drug reaction reports of ceftriaxone sodium for injection collected from a provincial spontaneous reporting system (SRS) and to find out its potential risks in clinical use. Methods Retrospective and descriptive methods were used to analyze 13,472 cases of adverse drug reaction/event (ADR/ADE) of ceftriaxone sodium for injection collected from January 1, 2004 to December 31, 2013. Results and Conclusion The clinical use of ceftriaxone sodium for injection shows the risks, including off-label use, overdose, and incompatibility. Therefore, supervision of clinical use of ceftriaxone sodium for injection should be strengthened so as to reduce the incidence of clinical ADR/ADE.
